City-Wide Student Summit Feb. 28th
A momentous event
25 students from at least 7 different universities joined us for the City-Wide Student Summit. This was the first time we have ever had this many student believers gathered in one place in Moscow talking about how they can reach their universities for Christ. Our vision for students in Moscow is that each student in the room has the potential to impact their campus and this city for Christ.
The students discussed in small groups what they want to see happen at their universities and how they can make it happen. Many students feel alone since they don’t know many other believers at their school, but we encouraged them with the fact that a movement has to start with something, even if it seems small.
Chris, from our team, compared a student movement to the dynamic power of an avalanche. It begins with a few snowflakes and then becomes so signifcant that is overcomes and totally transforms the landscape. Pray with us that these students would see God transform their campuses for Christ. This is the dream and hope Paul had when he wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2, to pass on to faithful men who will be able to tell others.

All of the students left encouraged and ready to take steps of faith to start movements for Christ on their campuses.

Today I talked with Nika (pictured here) , a believer at Gornei, about the meeting. She told me that it was so great for her to brainstorm with other students and is ready to carry out some of their ideas. Lena, Sergei, and Nika met yesterday and decided they want to use the season of Lent and Easter to engage with students at Gornei. Sergei said, "This is what my soul needed, to see these students from around the city. It gives me encouragment to keep going."
They plan to start with praying each week, and then doing an outreach before Easter. Right now they are praying that after Easter they will have a group of students from Gornei who will meet together each week to study the Bible. Today, Laura and I were able to pray with them for our university and it was so encouraging to see their excitement for taking these steps of faith.
Mike Beckham (right), CCC staff from Oklahoma Universty, and Jeremy Horton, College Pastor from Wildwood Church Oklahoma joined us for this last week and the City Wide Student Summit. We thank the Lord for their commitment and vision to partner with us in Moscow to reach the students of this great city with the Gospel.
